McLay - Teaching ‘ism’s in the schools (pacifism, humanism, trade unionism etc) .. We are opposed to such moves
McLay - The greatest cause of wars over the years has been the break down of alliances..
McLay We would contain with the floating exchange rate… taxation

Introduction from the Chair .. Many people are taking strong stands on the issue of Homosexual Law Reform.. We called this public meeting because we felt it was important.. rhetoric and facts .. listen and question.. Some public meetings have become a shambles .. that’s not going to happen tonight.. Ground Rules - All of the speakers are to be given a fair hearing.. The format of our meeting.. all of our speakers are guests of the Labour party..
Gary Taylor introduction.. - The heart of the Bill.. tolerance.. Gay people should be allowed to pursue their lifestyle without criminal prosecution..
Taylor - There is much uncertainty about what the Bill means.. There are advertisements that I have read that seem to misrepresent the true facts about the Bill
Taylor - Whether this Bill is passed or not won’t stop homosexual practices..
Taylor - I call on everyone to show that we’re prepared to listen.. I’m here tonight in my capacity as a City Councilor..

Fran Wilde - I want to start by telling you about the current state of the law and the Bill itself.. At present under the Crimes Act all sexual activity between males is a crime.. All anal intercourse (including heterosexual) is a crime.. At present you can discriminate on the grounds of perceived sexual orientation
Wilde - When the Bill goes through Parliament it will be split into two Bills.. Under the Crimes Act amendment.. This is a decriminalization Bill..
Wilde - The second part of the Bill ..outlawing discrimination..
Wilde - The Bill will not legalize any public sexual activity.. What the Bill will not do.. There have been many lies told about the Bill .. newspaper advertisements.. mis-information ..Teachers engaging in sexual activity at school..
Wilde - (Quoting Salvation Army newsletter) It will effectively legalize sodomy for all males between 12 – 16 years.. It is a gross distortion of the legislation..
Wilde - Carnal Knowledge defence .. My Bill is actually tougher than the present laws
Wilde - Patricia Bartlett said that this Bill will put more explicit homosexual situations on television .. pornography
Wilde -At present no man can be charged with raping his wife
