Finnemore - size of homosexual community - 1 in 10 ..identifying gay people .. married people

Caller: Murray – they seek to convert people.. tried to pick me up.. and then he tried to pickup my son
Finnemore – two cases here, the first one is Adult-Adult

Stevens – what happens if we turn this around and imagine it in terms of heterosexuality

Finnemore - society forces us to seek partners in such places.. gay bars.. private clubs.. married men inhabit toilets

Caller: Oliver – comment on the Human Rights Commission .. I’m married.. the Commission copped out.. I think that the Commission didn’t want any liberalization..
Caller: Oliver – Grossly unfair that people can be discriminated against.. example of government department that discriminates.. I support the Gay Coalition..
Stevens – listen tonight to Chris Carter about mining in the Coromandel
Stevens – do you agree that the law should be stiffened up against homosexuals.. or is this a private matter
Finnemore – I haven’t heard about the lesbian response
Stevens – call to make lesbian acts illegal
Finnemore – child custody has been denied to gay parents.. public discrimination examples..
Stevens – our phones are acting up.. what if the Human Rights Commission takes this line
Stevens - I think the public has moved over the years to accept.. a bit like nude bathing on the beach.. The Human Rights Commission might be behind public opinion..
Finnemore – The Gay Rights Coalition did surveys in 1978 and found that at least 56% people were in favour of granting homosexuals equal rights .. When Venn Young introduced his Bill in the 70s .. Many under 40s are much more liberal.. it’s a matter of age and education..
Stevens – Honesty from homosexuals has helped.. before it was hidden.. The homosexual who has the problem are those who don’t accept it and aren’t honest about it.. public pressure.. heavy laws put back the clock..
Finnemore – Self oppression..
Caller: Paul - A man asked us to indecently assault him when I was a child.. I’m now 33.. since then I’ve gone blind .. While in a hotel with two female friends I went to the toilet.. I was embraced by a homosexual.. I can’t even go to hotels..
